Metalcore veterans Fit For A King brought another round of energy to Little Rock, Arkansas, taking over The Hall this time. The open floor and surrounding balcony gave an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the show, whether they wanted to participate in the moshing and crowdsurfing, or witness the chaos to the sides or up above.

Construction traffic caused myself to be late for the opening band Acres, so I was only able to catch the second half of the set. With that said, the few songs I saw did leave me with an impression that I wanted more out of them which is always a good sign for me. Ten56. was another one I knew nothing about, but there were a few moments I caught myself in awe of both the heaviness of the sound projecting at me, and also the contrast throughout the set. One minute, everything is slamming at you with full force, and one song later, it’s a slower rap infused groove that brings you right back to the heavy energy. They did capture my attention that whole time so they are definitely a band to be on the lookout for.

Invent Animate has been one of my top bands in the scene for many years now, and this set followed that same rule. The standout moment for me was hearing their newest single “Fall Like Rain” live in person for the first time and the intensity that comes with it. Displaying the talent of every member, this new song showcases exactly how they’ve become a staple at their art and how they’ve managed to keep the audience’s attention every time. Aside from that, whether you’ve seen this band before or you’re a first-timer, anyone can be genuinely impressed with Invent Animate.

Fit For A King follows suit in their performances as they have managed to capture that same momentum. Time after time and no matter when and where you see this band, they always leave you something to remember. High energy on stage with jumping, spinning, throwing guitars around bodies, headbanging, and probably more moves I’m forgetting keeps the crowd wanting to move as well. Multiple mosh pits and even walls of death kept the floor energetic, and the crowd also had plenty of chances to sing along and scream back as these heavy shows will always be a moment of release for the fans. The setlist was a majority of new songs, but still plenty of older material to remind myself how long I’ve been following this band as well and what those songs have meant to me throughout the years.

Overall, anyone going to this tour will experience a night of energy, whether it’s from themselves or watching others release it, and it will be a great reminder that the metalcore music scene is in good hands with nights like this.
