Spanish Love Songs have released their new single, “Doom Tripping,” the latest preview of their forthcoming album, ‘Future Nausea’, arriving November 6 via Pure Noise Records.
The record was produced by former Death Cab For Cutie guitarist Chris Walla alongside Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin, and “Doom Tripping” finds the band leaning into a brighter, synth-driven sound while confronting considerably heavier subject matter.
“This song is my attempt to make a shimmering pop song that evokes how it feels to be inside my brain right now.
It’s ultimately a song about not giving up. It’s about recognising this all might be a bad trip, hoping it’ll be over soon, and clinging to the idea of building something better when it’s done.”

Slocum says portions of the track were written while tapering off antidepressants and experiencing severe vertigo alongside the return of symptoms that had previously caused him to lose his voice for three months.
He describes the song as a collection of surreal moments that left him questioning what was happening around him, but says its ultimate message is about continuing forward despite that uncertainty.
‘Future Nausea’ was conceived as a forward-looking take on the widescreen sound associated with heartland rock. Rather than leaning into nostalgia, Spanish Love Songs use the record to focus on uncertainty surrounding what comes next.
Spanish Love Songs will support the record this November with the first-ever National Independent Venue Association “Live Independent Tour,” a 19-city U.S. run consisting entirely of independently operated venues. Many dates have already sold out.
