Scary Kids Scaring Kids Name Albert Schweizer Permanent Vocalist, Share “Something In The Water”
For the first time in more than a decade, Scary Kids Scaring Kids are moving forward with a permanent lead vocalist.
The band have officially named Albert Schweizer their lead vocalist after more than three and a half years of fronting the group live. Schweizer will handle vocals both onstage and on all future releases, beginning with new single “Something in the Water” and the band’s forthcoming record, ‘RISE’.
In a joint statement, Pouyan Afkary and Chad Crawford said:
“We never wanted to force this. Albert has been a huge part of this band for years, on and off stage. This feels less like making a change and more like acknowledging what’s been true to us for a long time now.”
Scary Kids Scaring Kids have operated without a permanent vocalist for more than a decade, instead collaborating with different singers while continuing to release new material, including ‘Out of Light’ and ‘Maps Written in Water’. According to the band, establishing Schweizer as their permanent vocalist isn’t intended to recreate or replace a previous era, but to give the current lineup its own creative identity moving forward.
The band have also officially added Colton “Coba” Westerman as a full-time member on bass and vocals. Both Schweizer and Westerman have contributed to the songwriting, arrangements and overall creative direction of the band’s upcoming material.
That new era begins with “Something in the Water,” the first single from ‘RISE’ and the first release to fully represent the band’s current lineup. Scary Kids Scaring Kids describe the upcoming material as their heaviest work to date while retaining the emotional and dynamic elements that have remained central to their sound.
Josh Kikta will join the band on guitar for ‘RISE’ and future touring, with Kash Jaeger handling drums.
