ATTACK ATTACK! RELEASE NEW SINGLE “BRACHYURA BOMBSHELL” (TRACK ANALYSIS)
Attack Attack! is crabcore again, (for now.)
Attack Attack! have dropped their newest single, “Brachyura Bombshell”. The track is without a doubt a nod and a massive gift to their OG, MySpace- crabbycore- nostalgia chasing fans from their 2008 “Stick Stickly” era and we’re totally here for it. According to multiple sources, even the title of the track itself is a nod to their crabcore roots as “Brachyura” is a scientific word for crab. (We see you, guys.)
The single, which is the third release since their triumphant comeback- perfectly encapsulates the heart and soul of what Attack Attack! fans have been waiting for all of their new releases so far. Their first track, “All My Life” was on the heavier side, but had a more pop oriented sound and production than what a lot of fans originally expected from the group. Releasing the unique 4/20 surprise track “Kawaii Cowboys” earlier this month (roughly 40 seconds of country, j-pop- EDM mashed into one single), “Brachyura Bombshell” serves as a sigh of relief to Attack Attack! fans everywhere that they’re still everyone’s favorite crabcore band, but can also switch it up whenever they want to.
The release is nothing short of phenomenal, with the staple “crabby” breakdown and screams all introduced on every verse. The track deals with themes of depression and the contrast of self love in the end, which couples perfectly with the featured clean vocals on the chorus that definitely pack a punch with the lyrics in question. The track features old school electronic production over the heavy instrumentals, giving us an overall stellar crab/metalcore release.
