Swedish alternative metalcore outfit Imminence have returned with the first taste of their new era and upcoming yet-to-be-announced studio album with their new single “Temptation“. The song is the perfect evolution of the band’s sound, following up their 2019 metalcore masterpiece ‘Turn The Light On‘, but adding more aggression and 7-string guitars to their symphonic wall of sound.

Temptation” showcases an outstanding performance from frontman and violinist Eddie Berg, who delivers the strongest and most spine-chilling vocals of his career, with brutal screams and haunting cleans. Eddie Berg is one of the scene’s most underrated vocalists and this song is no exception. Guitarist Harald Barrett‘s riffs ascend to a new dimension with elegant, yet pulverising drop F# tuned guitars and unconventional song structure. The track is masterfully produced by the legendary Henrik Udd, with emphasis on the emotional elements of the song’s foundation throughout its unrelenting brutality.

Drummer Peter Hanstrom plays viciciously on the track, with ferocious blast beats and some of the most complex drumming of the band’s discography. “Temptation” fires on all cylinders and is a stand-out for one of the best tracks of the year so far, not only being the heaviest song of the band’s career, but also accompanied by the biggest and most impressive music video the group has put out so far, perfectly conveying a story and the theme of the song. When asked about the new chapter of the band, guitarist Harald Barrett stated,

Releasing ‘Temptation’ is a statement, it’s a huge contrast to our recent, acoustic era, and we want to show that we can do what we want, when we want, and how we want. No one can ever predict the next step from us, not even ourselves.

Imminence‘s brand new single “Temptation” is available now on all streaming platforms via Arising Empire. Stream the official music video below.

Mateo Ottie I make loud guitar noises and have unpopular opinions. If it’s underground alternative or progressive metal, I probably like it.
