Las Vegas alternative metal group Sigil ruminate on rage with the release of their latest single, “Wormtongue”.
Featuring a duo-chromatic color scheme, members of the band perform “Wormtongue” in a seemingly desolate location while the lyrical content works with the visual accompaniment to give a nod to an unspoken timestamp music videos filmed during this time have.
“Wormtongue” serves as a response to the self-examining questions raised after enduring an unpredictable, chaotic, and mentally taxing year. Once scattered, thoughts charged with fury and confusion collect themselves as an arduous search for peace within oneself continues.
Rather than dismissing feeling frustrated, angry, or disoriented, Sigil use a language of breakdowns, dissonance, and a melodic chorus to affirm their validity. Vocalist Landon Hill stated “if there’s anything we want fans to take away from “Wormtongue”, it’s that it’s okay to be mad or lost,” in regards to his hopes for how Sigil‘s listeners interpret the song.
