JOHNNIE GUILBERT RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “GOODNIGHT”

0

Guilbert is confronting sadness with a soft ukulele melody.

Times are turbulent, and truthfully, there’s too many annoyingly happy songs right now. Sadness is real, it’s relatable, and it’s the reality most of us are facing. Johnnie Guilbert’s “Goodnight” is that perfect remedy of sadness to get you all in your feelings.

Taken from his 2020 release The Last Thing I Want Is Help, the music video features Guilbert alone in empty landscape settings, echoing the themes of isolation in the track.

Carried by the soft strum of a ukulele, the track itself is a softer outlook on feelings of despair – like if NeverShoutNever had an emo baby. The lyrics are really the powerhouse of this track, giving this dreamlike melody an anchor of emotion as Guilbert battles with a storm of emotions.

Whether he’s overlooking the beach, nestled down in an ominous forest, or walking in a deserted street, there’s an overarching cast of gloom on this music video. It feels like you’re in the twilight zone, or in no man’s land, truly alone.
