‘No Place Like Home Tour’ Featuring Badflower, Slothrust, and Missio – Nashville, TN – 10.22.24
Badflower closed out their No Place Like Home Tour at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in their home base of Nashville, TN. Missio kicked off the night with eclectic energy and a touch of comedy with the drummer suited up in none other than, you guessed it, a banana suit. Up next, was the sludge rock band out of Portland, Slothrust, where the banana suit once again made an appearance as the lead singer of Badflower made his way onto the stage during Slothrust’s set in the hilarious costume.
As Slothrust closed out their set, it was time for Badflower to take the stage. The set included songs off the band’s last two albums, ‘This Is How The World Ends’ and ‘OK, I’M SICK,’ but also included songs dating all the way back to 2017 with an acoustic performance of “Heroin.”
The crowd shouted the lyrics back to the band out of LA for the majority of the night, but nothing can beat the excitement that radiated from the crowd when the chorus of “Stalker” began playing on the backing tracks. But, it wasn’t until Josh Katz, the lead singer and guitarist of Badflower, jumped into the crowd that the audience lost their minds and worked his way through the crowd during the song to only disappear while the remaining members, Joey Morrow (lead guitar and backing vocals), Alex Espiritu (bass), and Anthony Sonetti (drums), peeled back each layer of sound in the song from guitar to bass to leave a drum solo, only for Josh to show back up in the balcony of The Ryman, singing “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks and seamlessly transitioning back into “Stalker” while working his way through the balcony, only to disappear and reappear back onstage once again.
As the night continued on, so did the “end of tour” pranks, as Leah Wellbaum, the lead singer and guitarist of Slothrust, made their way on stage with a bubble gun to shoot across the stage. But, then, in a turn of events, Leah and Joey swapped gear, so Leah could shred with Badflower during their final song and Joey could decorate the stage and crowd with bubbles.
The last night of tour was a memorable one as Badflower had the opportunity to celebrate their upcoming release, ‘Haunting You,’ that is now available on all streaming platforms, but also had the opportunity to celebrate their hit song, “Ghost,” officially going platinum. Fans of the rock band should keep their eyes peeled as Josh alluded to an upcoming album and potential upcoming performances to follow.
