Ohio legends Beartooth are back and better than ever, dropping a surprise new single “Devastation” last week followed up with the new music video “The Past Is Dead” as well as announcing their 4th studio album, titled ‘Below’.

Devastation” serves as the band’s first lead single since 2018, hinting at a new sound while sticking to the band’s signature brand of hardcore punk, with a massive wall of guitars and some of their best riff’s to date. “The Past Is Dead” is the first look into the band’s new direction, with an insanely catchy chorus and the most unique breakdown they’ve unleashed to date. When asked about the new record, frontman Caleb Shomo stated:

‘The Past Is Dead‘ was one of the first songs written for the album. Various versions have been in the bank for about two years now and it really set the tone for the whole album’s writing process. The video is meant to depict the beginning of the journey to the deepest and darkest parts of my mind, which was the fuel used to make ‘Below’.”

“‘Below‘ is by far my favorite album I’ve made to date. It covers the dark side of dealing with mental strain during the last year. I gave it all I had — musically and lyrically. Is it too dark? Possibly, but it was as honest as I could be about how I felt. I hope everyone is ready to strap in for a wild ride of headbanging and rocking.”

Mateo Ottie I make loud guitar noises and have unpopular opinions. If it’s underground alternative or progressive metal, I probably like it.
