DEFTONES RELEASE NEW SINGLE “OHMS”

1

Deftones are officially back.

The band have released the title track off their newly announced album Ohms, which is set to be released on September 25th via Reprise Records.

Ohms is the band’s first bit of new material since 2016’s Gore and was produced by long-time producer Terry Date, who also produced some of the band’s earlier albums Around The Fur and White Pony.

Speaking to NME about the track, frontman Chino Moreno said-

“As the last song on the record, it’s kind of sung in retrospect – it’s looking back not just at the batch of songs that come before it, but our lives and our surroundings. The verses are reflecting, but the chorus kind of says, ‘Yes this, but this‘ – it’s saying that time will change with the decisions we make. It’s a question and an answer.

“The very first line of the song is ‘We’re surrounded by debris of the past’. That’s not directly about one thing. It could be about an experience or a relationship, but honestly in my mind I was thinking about the environment, the world and the Earth. The chorus is saying that we’re going to remain here together and nothing’s going to change that.

It’s a dichotomy of reflecting on negative things, but coming out of it optimistic.”

  1. Who made this list? I like nihilist blues and quite a few songs from AMO but why would that be number 1 and “Throne” at number 4??? Throne is by far their top viewed and top played song. You don’t even have the obvious one “Can you feel my heart” in the top 10 when that song is what pulled in new listeners barely knowing the band in 2015 and on.
