Mallory Knox have released their new single, “The Dog,” continuing the band’s new chapter following the return of original vocalist Mikey Chapman.
The track marks the band’s second release since Chapman rejoined the lineup, following “Afterglow,” which arrived last month and marked his first recording with Mallory Knox since 2017.
According to Chapman, “The Dog” explores the highs and lows that naturally come with life and the ways people can attempt to avoid difficult periods rather than confront them.
“When writing The Dog, I wanted to really explore the duality found in our journeys through life. Ebb and flow are inevitable features of the human experience.”
He adds that attempts to distract ourselves from pain or pursue a permanent state of happiness can eventually lead back to confronting those struggles directly.
“Ultimately, these attempts to deny the duality through which we all live our lives inevitably bring us back to the need to face the struggle.”
