Super Sometimes Bring The Fun Back To Pop Punk With ‘Show The World What’s Underneath’

0

Fresh new pop punk band Super Sometimes have put out their debut record, with ‘Show the World What’s Underneath’. This marks their first release since last year’s ’From Then & Now’. This band dives into a lot of what makes the genre so vibrant and alluring even in the year of 2026. They hit all the right spots you’d want from a pop punk band these days, and they keep it fresh and exciting.

Some of the singles like “Afterthought” and “Make Up Stories” do a great job at putting what they’re about front and center. Just good ol’ fashioned pop punk with catchy choruses and bangin’ riffs. It’s still such a simple formula that they still make these songs big and designed for the summer. Other songs like “Always You” and “See This Coming” do a great job at showing how great this band does with melodies and making these songs feel like a total ear worm. Bouncy pop punk should always be alive in some fashion, and this band does it beautifully and gracefully.

Vocalists and guitarists Gabriel Muñoz and Dylan Guzman do a fantastic job at carrying the vocals on this record, and being a pretty unbeatable duo that is directly influenced by bands like Blink-182 or Knuckle Puck. They shine on tracks like “Learned My Lesson” and “Medicine” to where they both feel so integral to what makes this album as likeable and bright as it is. The record closing with a song like “Prophet” feels like such an inspired choice, with it being as high energy and big as it does. I’d imagine they put this one on their set going forward with how much of a highlight it is off this whole album. The drummer Matthew Ludwig also does a wonderful job at keeping the energy alive with his fills, and shining on tracks like “Prophet” and “Medicine” especially.

Super Sometimes have managed to put out an incredibly solid debut record, with ‘Show the World What’s Underneath’. They hit all the right notes and spots to where if you’re a fan of the genre, I think you’ll have a fun time with this album. And these boys have a bright future ahead of them, showing the world just how fun pop punk can be once again.
