‘Tour Of Earth’ Featuring Glass Animals and Eyedress – Rogers, AR – 9.1.24
The Walmart AMP in Rogers, Arkansas has had a stacked lineup of shows this year, and continuing that trend was Glass Animals with their first ever headline show in the natural state.
Eyedress opened up the hot, but not too hot, golden hour setting with a mellow atmosphere. Reverberated guitar chords helped the slow feeling of the soft vocals really set in, but the drum grooves kept it upbeat just enough to keep the audience reeled in. I’ll be honest, about halfway through the set, I was really starting to feel my caffeine fade away because the vibe felt a little too slow, but right as I was thinking that, the second half of the set started to pick up and have more energy in the music and the performers as they started to have more movement on stage.
Glass Animals began their set with a raised curtain with their latest album title ‘I Love You So F***ing Much’ displayed along with a pineapple sitting on the right side of the stage (I don’t know the lore behind it). As the curtain dropped, the audience erupted as it felt like there was a dedicated fanbase here for the night. From beginning to end, the crowd was energetic and loud, so much so that vocalist Dave Bayley declared this show better than the last one as he kept saying “what a night!” and shocked by their response. There was plenty of crowd interaction as well, with Bayley coming down to the barricade to compliment the creative outfits some of the fans had, walking all the way to the lawn section to perform “Gooey” with them, and pointing out some dance moves he’s seen across the venue to compliment them. The set felt mostly upbeat with their electronic pop rock feel, leaving fans plenty of chances to jump around and have a great time for themselves. The band did a great job staying together musically as it felt like they could’ve been playing to themselves and still been perfectly happy with it. After the reception and energy the band received, I have a feeling this won’t be the last time they’ll be visiting Arkansas now.
