Emery and The Almost came through Ponte Vedra Beach, FL on their The Weak’s End/Southern Weather Tour at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall this past Thursday on March 21st. With the opener, Bad Luck, matching the energy of the two headliners the crowd was ready for a night of fun and exhilarating entertainment. Each band put on a compelling performance full of excitement and nostalgia.

Starting off the night New York alternative/indie rock band, Bad Luck carried out an explosively abounding stage presence all throughout their set. Every second was filled with movement and made sure to entice the audience and keep everybody captivated to the stage. They ensured anticipation for the rest of the night with their music having brilliant enticing beats and catchy driving, resonating tunes.

Next up, The Almost shot right out of the gate by beginning their set with their hit song “Southern Weather” which really got the whole crowd wild and singing along. From there they continued playing a few more hits from their 2007 album of the same name before then switching to the slower more melodic folksy ballad of “Hand Grenade” off their 2009 album, ‘Monster Monster’. After a couple more ‘Southern Weather’ songs such as “Amazing Because It Is” and “Say This Sooner” they invited Dominick Fox, lead singer of Bad Luck, on stage to perform the screams in the track “Reinventing Your Exit” a cover of one of frontman, Aaron Gillespie’s main band, Underoath’s hit songs to close the set. The whole room was singing and screaming at the top of its lungs as the chaos on stage ensued.

Finally Emery opened up their set with “The Ponytail Parades” and the crowd was psyched. Fans grabbed onto the railing, headbanged and sang every word to every song throughout the performance. Towards the middle of their set they played “Studying Politics” off of their 2005 album ‘The Question’, which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed as they sang along. The band then played several more pieces from their 2004 album ‘The Weak’s End’ including, “Fractions”, “Bloodless” and “Under Serious Attack”. As the show continued they switched to the song “In Shallow Seas We Sail” from the 2009 album of the same name. In closing they once again went back to ‘The Weak’s End’ and performed the more emo-inspired number “The Secret” before finishing off with their hit song “Walls”.

With nostalgia taking over the night and the show at an end the songs replayed in the heads of the crowd as they dispersed into the night. If you haven’t caught this tour yet don’t miss out. Getting to hear these songs live is an experience you won’t forget.
