Four months into 2023 and Spiritbox are already off to an incredible start. The Canadian metal band have officially added ex-As I Lay Dying bassist Josh Gilbert to the mix, teased the release of brand new material, and have just hit the road on their first ever highly-anticipated and completely sold out North American headlining tour. On April 14th, Spiritbox‘s ‘Eternal Blue Tour’ made its way to Sacramento’s Ace Of Spades for night four of the tour; bringing along with them After The Burial and Intervals as support.

Fittingly beginning their set with tracks one through three of theirEternal Blue’ album, “Sun Killer”, “Hurt You” and “Yellowjacket”, Courtney LaPlante and co. graced the Ace Of Spades stage. With the addition of bassist Josh Gilbert, the band sounds tighter than they ever have before with Gilbert impressively providing backing vocals and even performing Sam Carter‘s guest spot on “Yellowjacket”. The 15 song set list primarily featured tracks from ‘Eternal Blue’ but also treated fans a brand new track titled “The Void”, nods to the past with performances of “Rule Of Nines” and “The Mara Effect, Pt. 3”, “Rotoscope” from their 2022 three pack, and a hella good cover of No Doubt’s classic “Hella Good” (No Djoubt, if you will).

However, the performance hit its highest and most intense point during the band’s performance of “Holy Roller” which has become the fan favorite since its release back in 2020. To close out the night, Spiritbox ended their set with performances of “Hysteria”, “Constance”, and title track “Eternal Blue”.
