Following the success of their 2023 Fall co-headliner, metal heavyweights Ice Nine Kills and In This Moment have yet again hit the road together on a tour they’ve dubbed the ‘Kiss Of Death Part 2 Tour’. The highly anticipated 34-date summer sequel commenced on August 1st in Ft. Wayne, IN and will conclude on September 12 in Pittsburgh, PA. On September 3rd, the homestretch of the tour, Sacramento’s newest venue The Backyard was the home for the ‘Kiss of Death Part 2’ – bringing with them the Swedish stars Avatar and rising opening act TX2

After a hauntingly beautiful ritual of a performance put on by In This Moment, Ice Nine Kills took the stage. Having followed their career for over 10 years across many different eras, it’s always a treat to see the band’s performance and production level up every time. ‘The Silver Scream’ eras have definitely been my favorites of theirs to date, with their performances featuring many horror movie-like skits, commercial skits, actor appearances, props, and other cinematic visual aspects. Interestingly, the band’s attire consisted of bloody white polo shirts and shorts as opposed to their (now signature) matching suits – perhaps to add to the summer vibe of the tour. The band’s set list consisted heavily of ‘Silver Scream’ era tracks such as “Thank God It’s Friday”, “Funeral Derangements”, “IT Is The End”, “Hip To Be Scared”, “The Shower Scene”, “The American Nightmare”, and of course “Welcome To Horrorwood”. Aside from these set list staples, the band threw in a cover of Katrina and the Wave‘s iconic song “Walking On Sunshine” which provided a nice sing-along with those in the crowd.

I’ll never get tired of watching Ice Nine Kills perform. Their ability to keep the crowd fully engaged and entertained from start to finish is something INK does better than most. It’s no wonder why they’re performing on select dates with Metallica, because this is the trajectory this band is heading in: stadiums.
