British Invasion Tour – Silver Spring, MD – 3.1.16
The Fillmore Silver Spring was lucky enough to host the U.K.’s very own Bullet For My Valentine, metalcore heavyweights Asking Alexandria and the hardcore group While She Sleeps for the ‘British Invasion Tour’ on this Tuesday night in Silver Spring. Hours before the venue even opened it’s doors, people were already lined up outside almost wrapping the block. Photographer Luis Rosales was there for this heavy hitting show.
While She Sleeps started off the night as the venue was just about full and it all starts with the song ‘Brainwashed’ as a warmup to what is about ensue the rest of the night. Lead vocalist Lawrence Taylor was so energetic that you couldn’t take your eyes off of him because you didn’t know where or what he was going to do next. From climbing on the drum set to singing on the ground, there was no way of knowing what to expect. Every member of the band was moving a lot as well and could tell that they really enjoyed what they were doing, which translated into the amazing set they put on.
Asking Alexandria took the time to make their entrance as anticipating as possible as the crowd was getting anxious to see their favorite band play. It was right that the first song they played was ‘I Won’t Give In’ being that it was the first song the band wrote with singer Denis Stoff. Immediately after the first drum beat hit to the song, fans start chaos in the pit as everyone was in the moment and people were throwing themselves up to crowd surf. The lighting was absolutely spectacular, the LED light fixture they had on stage were extremely bright and with the help of the white lights in front, made for excellent stage presence. The band sounded huge as it seemed like they had everything turned up to the max but it sounded very clean throughout the 9 songs they played. Superb performance from the band.
Bullet For My Valentine was finally up for their headlining show opening with ‘No Way Out.’ At first glance, all you saw was the light poles they had set up at the back which made for really neat light beams pointing in the direction on each member of the band. After the band played two of their newer songs ‘No Way Out’ and ‘Skin,’ they threw out a favorite amongst all fans, ‘Your Betrayal’ where all you heard at some point was everybody singing along with the chorus. After seeing this show, it was absolutely no surprise as to why it sold out because Bullet For My Valentine put together a high quality production show which was phenomenal in every aspect, including the lighting in every way.
