On September 22nd, Canadian pop punk band Marianas Trench made their way to Nashville to a room full of eager fans ready to see them at Marathon Music Works. Piao kicked off the night with an iconic performance filled with choreographed dances to her pop star presence. Up next was Cassadee Pope, the Nashville native, playing a hometown show for music city, to friends and fans alike! Then, it was finally time for Marianas Trench to take the stage, a moment that one fan in the audience said the city has been waiting 6 years for the band’s return. And, they did not disappoint!

The band, made up of singer Josh Ramsay, guitarist Matt Webb, drummer Ian Casselman, and bassist Mike Ayley, put on a show with an impressive production value from lights to sound to stage setup. Not a single detail was left unaccounted for in preparation for the set. The production gave an ambiance of “the storm” complete with white flecks blowing through the air in the white lights to imitate snow. The tour and overall theme is in celebration of Marianas Trench’s latest album, ‘Haven’, that fans have quickly grown fond of. And, where there were many new songs from the album performed, the band still made room for fan favorites from their debut album, ‘Fix Me‘, to ‘Phantoms’, including hits from ‘Masterpiece Theatre’ and ‘Ever After’. But, the production value is not the only portion of the show worth raving about but also the incredible musical talents of the band members themselves. During the show, lead singer Josh Ramsay took the time to brag on his bandmates for not only their skilled instrumentals but also their singing abilities. He addressed it again later in the show, saying, “Remember how I said my bandmates were amazing singers?” And then, breaking into perfect harmony with each member that residents of the Bible Belt haven’t even heard at a Sunday morning service from their church choir. That moment in itself was enough to make every singer in music city jealous, but it certainly didn’t keep the crowd from dueting with Ramsay on “Good To You”, the band’s iconic duet from ‘Masterpiece Theatre’.

But, of course, the night came with a little bit of comedy when the band noticed the Nashville local food stand set up in the venue for none other than Daddy’s Dogs, a popular hot dog stand amongst locals that uses rather suggestive marketing for their food. That moment in itself invited some comedic moments from the crowd when fans started shouting out their love for The Wiggles as well as listing off Canadian provinces to show the band their true dedication.

The night was certainly one to remember as Josh Ramsay left the audience with a promise that they’ll be back and this time, “I promise it won’t be another 6 years.”
